We Are Built In the Lab. Proven In the Game.
I’m Jay, a sports dietitian who has spent the last decade working inside elite performance environments, from performance research labs to professional locker rooms. My work bridges science and real-world application, helping athletes fuel with clarity, confidence, and purpose, not confusion, restriction, or guesswork.
At Rise Nutrition, I bring the same evidence-based standards used in elite sport and adapt them to your training demands, competition schedule, and goals.
Founded by Jay Short, a registered dietitian with credentials from elite sports teams and performance labs, Rise Nutrition exists to cut through the noise and give you clarity, confidence, and results.

Our Mission
My mission is to help athletes fuel in a way that supports performance, longevity, and confidence all without relying on rigid rules or short-term fixes.
Too often, athletes are overwhelmed with conflicting advice or handed plans that don’t fit their training, schedule, or lifestyle. My goal is to simplify the process and provide clear, structured guidance that athletes can actually apply.
Every athlete deserves a fueling approach that evolves with their training demands and supports long-term development, not just short-term results.

Science You Can Actually Use
My approach bridges performance research and real-world application. This has been shaped by years of working inside elite sport environments and refined through hands-on coaching with athletes across different sports and levels.
We translate research into real-world strategies that fit your lifestyle and goals.
We explain the science in plain language so you understand what you're doing and why it works.
We prioritize health first because you can't perform at an elite level without a strong foundation.
Trusted by athletes and organizations competing at the highest levels of sport

From the Research Lab to the Sidelines
My background spans both performance research and applied sport nutrition, allowing me to cut through trends and focus on what actually improves performance.
Early in my career, I worked in a performance research lab studying how nutrition, training, and recovery interact in real athletes. That foundation shaped how I evaluate evidence and apply it practically, not theoretically.
Since then, I’ve worked directly with athletes and teams at the professional, collegiate, and youth levels, helping translate science into fueling strategies that hold up in real training and competition environments.
